Why We’re a Brow and Skin Studio: Skin-First Brow Care Explained
· 3 min read · By the Clover studio team

The short answer
Skin-first brow care means treating the skin under your brows as carefully as the hair: cleansing gently, patch testing, protecting skin with a barrier, never treating irritated areas, finishing with nourishment, and spacing lamination at least 6 weeks apart. It means fewer reactions and brows that stay healthy.
People sometimes ask why we call ourselves a brow and skin studio when our menu is all about brows. Simple: your brows grow out of your skin. Treat one carelessly and the other suffers.
What “skin-first” looks like in the chair
- We ask about your skincare. Retinol, acne treatments, new serums, recent facials or peels — all of it changes how your skin will react.
- We patch test. Every first lamination or tint.
- We cleanse gently. Oils and makeup are removed without scrubbing.
- We protect. A barrier cream keeps solutions on the hair and off the surrounding skin.
- We never treat irritated skin. Breakouts, eczema flares, sunburn or cuts on the brows mean we wait.
- We nourish. Every lamination finishes with a keratin-rich treatment.
- We space treatments. At least 6–8 weeks between laminations, so hair and skin recover.
Why it makes results better, too
Healthy, hydrated hair takes a lamination evenly and holds it longer. Calm skin accepts tint more evenly and fades more gracefully. Less irritation means less redness for photos.
Your at-home routine
- Gentle, oil-free cleanser around the brows
- Keep actives (retinol, acids) off the brow area
- Brow oil or castor oil a few times a week
- Daily sunscreen
- A spoolie in your bag
Beauty, balance, confidence
Our tagline isn’t just pretty words. Beauty is brows that suit your face. Balance is caring for skin and hair so they stay healthy. Confidence is what happens when you stop worrying about either.

Quick questions
Our menu currently focuses on brows. Skin care is built into every brow appointment — prep, protection and nourishment — and we’re happy to talk through your routine.
Retinol, tretinoin, AHA/BHA acids, exfoliating scrubs and peels on the forehead and brows for about a week.
A protective layer applied to the skin around the brows so lamination solution and tint stay on the hair, not the skin.
