Brow Lamination Aftercare: The First 24 Hours and Beyond

Brow oil, spoolie and gentle cleanser for laminated-brow aftercare

The short answer

For the first 24 hours after brow lamination, keep your brows completely dry, skip makeup and creams on them, don’t touch them, and avoid sleeping face-down. After that, brush them into place daily, add a drop of brow oil a few times a week, and keep retinol and oil cleansers off the brows.

The appointment is the easy part — you just lie back. What you do in the next day decides how beautiful your brows look for the next two months. Here’s our simple plan.

The first 24 hours: four golden rules

1. Keep them dry

No washing your face over the brows, no steamy showers, no swimming, saunas, hot tubs or hot yoga. Water and steam interfere with the final setting of the hair.

Tip from the studio: wash your face before your appointment, and use a cleansing wipe around (not on) the brows that evening.

2. Hands and makeup off

No brow pencil, gel, pomade, serum or moisturiser on the brows. Try not to rub or touch them — easier said than done, we know.

3. Sleep on your back

Face-down sleeping can press the hairs into odd directions while they finish setting. One night on your back is all it takes.

4. Skip the sweat

Save the spin class or the run along the Nicomekl trail for tomorrow. Sweat counts as water.

Days 2 to 7

  • Wash your face normally, with a gentle cleanser.
  • Brush your brows into shape every morning with a clean spoolie. They’re surprisingly obedient.
  • Start brow oil (or plain castor oil) on day 2 or 3 — a single drop combed through.
  • Avoid self-tanner on the face for 48 hours.

Weeks 2 to 8

  • Keep retinol, AHA/BHA acids and exfoliating scrubs off the brows.
  • Choose oil-free makeup removers around the brow area.
  • Brow oil two or three times a week keeps hair soft and helps the set last.
  • Sunscreen every day protects your tint.

“Help — my brows look strange!”

Day one can look very lifted, almost straight-up. That’s normal. After the first wash at 24 hours, they relax into a softer shape. If anything still feels off after a few days, text us — small tweaks are easy.

Quick questions

Yes, but keep your face out of the water and avoid a steamy bathroom for the first 24 hours. A quick, lukewarm shower with your face turned away is fine.

Skip heavy, sweaty workouts, hot yoga and saunas for 24 hours. A gentle walk is fine.

Not in the first 24 hours. After that, a nourishing brow oil or castor oil is a better choice than petroleum jelly.
