How Long Does Brow Lamination Last? (And How to Make It Last Longer)
· 3 min read · By the Clover studio team

The short answer
Brow lamination usually lasts 6 to 8 weeks. It fades gradually as your natural brow hairs shed and regrow, so there’s no harsh grow-out line. Oily skin, swimming, retinol and oil-based cleansers near the brows can shorten that; a little brow oil and gentle cleansing help it last.
You’ve finally got the fluffy, brushed-up brows you’ve been saving on Pinterest. Naturally, the next question is: how long will they stay like this?
The short version: 6 to 8 weeks
Most clients enjoy their lamination for six to eight weeks. Because every brow hair is on its own growth cycle, the effect doesn’t disappear overnight — individual hairs shed and new, un-laminated ones grow in, so brows slowly relax back to their natural direction.
Week by week: what to expect
- Day 1: Very set and lifted. This is normal — don’t panic.
- Days 2–5: After the first wash at 24 hours, brows soften into that perfect brushed-up shape. Most people’s favourite stretch.
- Weeks 2–5: Full, easy, low-maintenance. Brush them up in the morning and go.
- Weeks 6–8: Hairs gradually relax. You’ll notice a few pointing their own way again — time to rebook.
What shortens brow lamination?
- Getting them wet too soon. The setting process finishes over the first 24 hours. Steam, face washing, swimming or a sweaty spin class in that window can loosen it.
- Oil-based products. Oil cleansers and makeup removers break down the set faster.
- Actives on the brows. Retinol, AHA/BHA acids and exfoliating scrubs speed up fading.
- Very oily skin. Natural oils have a similar effect — not your fault, just something to know.
- Daily swimming or saunas. Chlorine and heat both take their toll.
How to make it last longer
- Brush brows into shape each morning with a clean spoolie.
- After the first 24 hours, comb in a drop of brow oil or castor oil two or three times a week. Lamination can leave hair a little dry; nourished hair holds its shape better.
- Cleanse around the brows with a gentle, oil-free cleanser.
- Keep retinol and acids off the brow area.
- Wear sunscreen — it protects tint, too.
How often can you laminate safely?
Every 6–8 weeks at the most. Re-laminating too soon is how hair gets over-processed and brittle. If your shape starts to look fuzzy at week four, a quick Brow Shaping + Tint tidies everything without another round of solution.
Does tint last as long?
Not quite. Brow tint on the hair lasts about 3–5 weeks, a little less if you cleanse the area often. That’s why many of our regulars alternate a Clover Trio with a shape-and-tint refresh in between.
Quick questions
No more often than every 6–8 weeks. Spacing it out lets treated hairs shed and keeps brows healthy.
Coarse, thick hair tends to hold the set well, though very coarse hair can also want to spring back sooner. Results vary — your first round tells you a lot.
Getting brows wet or steamy in the first 24 hours, oil-based makeup removers, retinol or acids on the brows, frequent swimming, and very oily skin.
